Summary of last week and the week to come

So last week was hectic to say the least. I had to go shopping Friday night for my sons birthday party the next day.  While checking-out the cashier made a mistake and it wouldn't take my mother coupons etc etc. Saturday came and went as planned with cupcakes, children, and presents.
Sunday was our trip with some close friends to a local, well I say local but it's really 40 minutes away or so, anyways to a event that was advertised as free.  Well by free they meant just the admission, almost everything inside you had to pay for.  There were vendors from all kinds selling items and businesses giving away things.

There was a inflatable zone that you had to pay $5 for but was kinda worth the laughs and fun the kids had

Now for this weekend.  Saturday my friend and I are planning, well she's planning I'm hitching along for a yard sale. I would LOVE to get rid of some stuff we don't need anymore, can always use the money to stash away.  Then later the same day is my very first House Party.  I was selected to host a Ball Canning House Party where you learn right a long with me how to can items.  I got my package yesterday and plan on taking a picture of all the goodies once I get my jars I need to purchase tomorrow. Now I have no idea what I am going to be canning yet but my friend is letting me host it at her house and I am super excited even if it is a few people.

So in summary last weekend and this weekend are shaping up to be a really busy time.  I was finally able to get what I hope will be my new coupon and craft area so I don't take up half a room and a table in the living room.

This was a weird ad like I said and it seems they are trying to be more healthy and do meals in their ads to show people how to do cheap meals which I think is an awesome idea, I just like the pictures of the items with the sales.  The ad was a bit light this week so I would think they have more on sale just not advertised perhaps but ya never know.

Weekend Shopping Trips

Wal-mart Trip: 6/17

Now I had to buy stuff for my son's birthday party so it's not normally this big of a trip at Wal-mart. Overall my bill was at over $100 and came down to $59 after coupons and overage. I did notice that the cashier didn't take off the coupon for the Free Lay's so I'll be asking about that as well as some other issues I had.

My Second Walgreens trip was a huge success in my book!
Transaction 1:
Airwick Starte Kit $7.99
-used $4/1 coupon
=$3.99 and I got $3RR
Transaction 2:
2-12pk Angel Soft Toilet Paper 2/$11
2-Purex $3.00
-used $10RR from previous week
Total was $8.53!

Transaction 3:
4-Walgreens Diapers Size 5 $4.99
-Used $2/1 in walgreens book=$2.99 a pack!
1-Hiland Gallon Milk $3.79
1-M&Ms $0.69
-Used $3RR from Transaction 1 & then 4-$1RR from previous week
Total: $6.92

Overall I saved :$61.86
Spent: Roughly $20 as I can't find my first receipt.

I felt really happy after this trip because I am starting to stockpile toilet paper and diapers and we are all set on HBA items of all kinds so I won't need to buy most of it for awhile.

From a blog I look at everyday!

I frequently visit a blog Melanie in the Middle who also writes for another blog I look at everyday The Coupon Goddess, and today when I looked at her Melanie in the Middle post 25 Things About Me I decided it was a good post to do to keep it going.

She writes: "I read an interesting post on BlogHer the other day that was pretty much a list of what made that blogger unique. The blogger posed a challenge that we look at ourselves and post a similar list on our own blogs which I thought would be interesting. And since I’m sitting here at 11:50pm waiting for two authentic loaves of Greek bread to finish baking so that my thirteen year old can take something impressive to school tomorrow for some type of cultural event, I figured I’d have at it…..", and since she inspires me in other areas I figured I'd follow her lead with doing this as well and it allows you guys as readers to learn who actually posts all the stuff you read.

So here we go!

1. I have such a motherly instinct is extends to other people's children and is apparent when I tend to call them "baby" or "hun" when talking to them instead o by their name. (Not sure if this annoys or makes the parents of the kids feel safe that someone caring is around their kids)

2. I am an old soul inside a semi-young body. I am 24(On July 14th) but as a child in my teens I would rather be crocheting, cross-stitching, or doing some other craft that my husband considers me a "old lady" for.

3. I have extreme social anxiety, I shake like a chihuahua when I get nervous in public places like I'm cold. It's a work in progress

4. I keep most of my intelligence to myself, not that I'm a genius but more so I like to surprise people with what I know or can do.

5.When it comes to my children I have done feats I never thought I could without a second though. I.E. Running towards a wasp to kill it or even a spider(I am deathly afraid of spiders). Isn't it amazing what motherhood does?!

6. I really enjoy the banana pudding at Chinese restaurants.

7. After I had my daughter I learned I had 3 blood clots in the umbilical cord, then learned if these had reached her it would have killed her. I later learned I had a genetic blood "disorder" that I still don't know what it means.

8. I was born and raised in North Carolina(Greensboro) but I live in a little town in Oklahoma. Do I need to stay it takes some getting use to the weather?

9. I gave blood once in high school just to say I did it even though I was under the weight limit I remember being in the chair and holding a friends hand saying "I never wanna have kids" because of the pain with the needle.  Boy..how I underestimated the pain in comparison it was sooo much worse lol

10. I have been married for 5 years(August 17th) and it seems like it's only been a few years now. I still imagine growing old with this man.

11. Couponing became a part of my life in December 2010, now I say a part of my life as it has helped us so much that it is now something even my husband talks to me about.

12. My dream is to own a business and be active in it.

13. Another dream of mine it to find out my genealogy as I barely know anything about my fathers side of the family.

14. My name is Monika and at my high school graduation the Asst. Principal pronounced it Moe-neeka...I was mortified but it's something I get all the time.

15. My favorite food is a chili cheese coney from Sonic.

16. I am a World of Warcraft player as well as a Call of Duty:Black Ops player, now the only time I have time to do either is rare and usually late at night and I fall asleep doing so.

17. I have a huge fear of driving over water and heights....combine those together...double whammy.

18. My taste in movies leans more so towards the action/adventure side, one of my favorite movies is The Last Samurai(although not huge in the category I still like it)

19. I am a Dr. Pepper addict.  **But trying to quit :D**

20. My favorite flower is a Carnation but I couldn't be simple, I like the ones that are dual colored.

21.I enjoy watching all the kid movies multiple times(Seems I watch most of them once a day anyway).

22. I am a cat person and I think my daughter is as well, whereas my son only says "puppy" so it follows his daddy in that aspect.

23.I own over 300 DVDs which we have accrued over a 6 year span at Gamestop(when they had awesome sales), yard sales, a much loved movie rental place went out of business and we stocked up there! So if we never have cable or netflix we'll still be entertained.

24. I'm a chronic note taker but sometimes forget about the notes.

25. I keep my self constantly busy which sometimes leads to being over busy and overwhelmed but I'd have it no other way.

My Stockpile So Far

Now I've only been couponing since December 2010, and have mainly focused on food items, not really stockpiling so much as getting enough food to last 7 people.  A back story on that is my husband, our 2 kids, and I live with my in-laws(mother,father, and sister in-law) in order to help them with their bills etc.  So we share all the food and other items.  I have put the majority of the food right into the cabinets but within the past 2 months I have been able to actually stash a certain amount of food and HBA items.
This is my HBA stockpile, it consists of:
-6 Degree Women Trial Size Deodorant
-7 Degreen Mens Trial Size Deodorant
-4 Bottles Womens Nivea Bodywash
-5 Bottles Gillette Bodywash
-2 Cans Gillette Shave gel
-4 Bottles Herbal Essences Shampoo
-2 Gillette ProGlide Razors
-1 Pack Bic Soleil Razors
-9 Bottles Pert Plus 2-1 Shampoo Trial Size
-2 Suave Deodorant
-1pk Ivory Soap
-3 Tubes of Bath&Body Works Lotion(These were part of a deal I posted about here)
-1 Bottle of Dawn dish soap

We won't stink anytime soon that's for sure!

Now here is more HBA/Cleaning stuff.
-3 Bottles of Clorox Bleach (I paid $5 for all 3 bottles, and this will last me 6-9months or longer
-1 3bar pk Zest Soap
-1 Bic Mens Razors
-3 Bottles Hand Soap from Bath&Body Works from the above lotion deal as well.
-1 4pk White Cloud Toilet Paper

Now this is my food stockpile that stays in the purple totes you see to the side, this is separate from our cabinets that I have set aside.(The less food they see the longer it seems to last)
-3 Boxes of Capn Crunch Cereal
-1 Box Trix
-1 8pk breakfast cereal
-7 Boxes of Hungry Jack Instant Potatoes
-3 Bottles Kraft Ranch Dressing
-1 Can green beans
-1 Can corn
-1 bag rice
-1 Box Act II popcorn
-2 Jars Smuckers Jelly
-1 Bottle Kraft BBQ Sauce
-1 Bottle KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce
-2 Boxes store brand Mac n Cheese
-1 box of Ramen Noodles
-4 Boxes of Tea bags
-2 Boxes Ronzoni Pasta
-4 Bags of chips pictured, shortly after my daughter asked for one and one was also calling my name so now there's 2 left
-1 Cake Mix
-1 Can Diced Tomatoes

Now this is stuff I have gotten in the past 2 months really. I have also started a box of HBA items for the navy soldiers my aunt in law helps with care packages...it's a small box but hey everything helps and makes them feel special:
I will be adding more to the box as more coupons I have traded for come in.  I am not sure if they can actually use the bandaids or not bu if they can't I can donated them to the schools or other places I'm sure.  The soldiers specifically requested no Colgate toothpaste so I am trying my best to get the Sensodyne Pronamel for them but am having little luck with trading for those coupons.

My very first Walgreen's trip

So a friend and I made our very first and terrifying visit to Walgreen's today.  I had my list, I had all my coupons for said items on the list, I thought I was prepared.  Boy was I wrong. I had a plan going into the store but once I was in there I was in awe and I went super slow with everything and was throroughly confused when I was trying to get all the items needed for the Gillette RR deal. Plus it didn't help they were sold out of it as well.  They were also sold out of the Nivea for Men, which I had planned on getting some to add to the Gillette but alas I digress.
My transactions went as follows:

Transaction 1:
Pampers Size 4-$8.99(Used $1/1 coupon+$2/1 from infant care book)($1RR)
Duracell 4pk $1.99(Used $1/1 coupon)($1RR)
Herbal Essence Shampoo $2.99(Used $1/1) ($1RR)
Dawn Dish Soap $0.99
Gillette Bodywash $4.99x5(Used 4-$2/1&1-BOGO free)
Gillette Shave Gel 2/$7(Used $1coupon)
Gillette After Shave $2.99
Bic Soleil Razors $5.99(Used $3/1) ($2RR)
Pepsi 2liter $0.99(I think this gave me a $1 RR)
Total after coupons was: $39.10
I saved:$33.47

Transaction 2
Herbal Essence Shampoo $2.99(Used $1/1 coupon) ($1RR
Laffy Taffy $0.15 (Used $2RR)
Total:$0.42
Saved:$4.00

Transaction 3
Herbal Essence Shampoo $2.99(Use $1/1coupon)($1RR)
Laffy Taffy $0.15(Used $2RR)
Total:$0.42
Saved:$4.00

Transaction 4
Herbal Essence Shampoo $2.99
Total: $3.26
Saved:$1.00

Ok now the one transaction I forgot to use my coupon so she took an extra $1 off something somewhere I was confused at that point and starting to get hot and she seemed awesome so I went with it.

So basically I spent:$43.10
Saved:$42.47

I now have $15.99 leftover in register rewards for next weeks sale.

The cashier was super nice at the cosmetics counter and she was so welcoming and easy to deal with and very understanding I can't commend her enough for dealing with us newbies there tonight.  At the end she even pulled out a binder of coupons they keep under the desk for their couponers I mean HOW cool is that?

Awesome Mail Day

So today I hadn't expected anything in the mail except some coupons maybe, so I was overjoyed to find all this in my mailbox!
I had emailed Purex asking about their new Free&Clear because I had heard it was just like the ALL Free& Clear and it's cheaper PLUS they are always coming out with coupons for Purex it seems.

I got in the mail from them:
1-$0.35/1 Dial product
1-$0.40/1 Renuzuit product(no candles)
3-$0.50/1 Liquid or Dry Detergent
1-$0.50/1 Soft Scrub product.

Now here's the kicker, I emailed asking for a sample or coupon for the Free&Clear and then sent me these coupons PLUS in the letter they said "We do not maintain a mailing list which allows us to distribute coupons on an on-going basis.  You can however contact us once every 3 months to request a coupon packet". Is that not AWESOME?!?!

Ok I also got:
1-Shampoo&Condition Garnier Fructis (From Wal-mart.com sample page)
1-Tresemme shampoo&conditioner samples
1-Disney Princess Float from cashing in some Swag Bucks
1-Weight Watchers Magazine.(I got this by buying the cookbook at Wal-mart it came with a 1yr subscription for the magazine)

Swag Bucks also tells you if you email a picture of you with your prize they'll give you an additional 10bucks! Hoping they take this picture because my daughter refuses to let go of it.

Walgreen's Match-up 6/5-6/11

I'll do this ad like I do my other and go page by page.

If you are new to Walgreen's I hands down recommend this breakdown of it, I have never shopped there but feel like I can walk in today and do awesome at it! I even took notes. I will be doing the match-up for exactly how much you will have to pay right then instead of the ones that say "Like paying $x.xx" because you still have to pay the amount right then and get the Register Rewards later. Lawry's BZZ Agent Box

If you haven't heard of BZZ Agent, it's an awesome site to be a part of. They offer you campaigns based on surveys etc that you fill out about yourself. I was recently asked to join a Lawry's campaign.  I never know when or if there are boxes coming with them and it was a pleasant surprise today to get one.
I received:

2-Full Size Marinades
1-Seasoning Salt
1-Lawry's Apron
1-Recipe Book
10-Coupons for $0.75/1 8oz Seasoned Salt & $1.00 Lawry's Marinade
As everyone know it's perfect time for grilling so these items will be put to GREAT use in our home. I plan on experimenting  a bit with some chicken at some point and maybe whatever else I can put together.

Printable Proof!

So if you follow my page over on facebook Deal Searching Mama these printables are all ones I've posted about. Now I had my printer que full so I wanted to get these off there before I forgot what I had. Sadly my black cartridge is now empty and I didn't even finish.

My point is in just these coupons that I WILL use the ink cartridge has paid for itself.  I literally have $12 in coupons there and that's how much my cartridge costs.  I only post about coupons I think are awesome are usable.  Now my cartridge has lasted me quite a bit because I don't print every coupon I come across only ones I know I can use or trade or give to someone that needs them.

If you guys have any questions feel free to email me with the title BLOG QUESTION (so I know it's not spam) to monikarclark@yahoo.com

Sweet deal on books!

Starting today through June 14, thredUP will pay $5 in swap credits for your used books. You'll also receive a Summer Reading Package worth over $40 for simply recycling used books on thredUP.

Unexpected Wal-mart Trip

My son was out of diapers and I thought I had enough to last til tonight (which would have given me more time to find deals etc) and he had already peed in 2 pairs of underwear by the time I got back so this trip was very very needed. Husband also had a prescription I needed to drop off so it had a dual goal.

I did pick up what you see in the picture and a tricycle for my daughter/son to use(yea right them sharing this is turning out horrible!) and a box of diapers.

Here's the breakdown:

Suave Deodorant $0.97-$0.50/1 coupon=$0.47x5=$2.35
Temptations Cat Treats $1.74-$1.00coupon=$0.74
Tidy Cat Litter $2.12-$2.00coupon(Was from coupons.com no longer available)=$0.12
2 Liter Dr. Pepper $1.25=$1.25
Tricycle $39.00(Oh how I wish I had coupons for this or had ad matched it for cheaper)=$39.00
Hungry Jack Instant Potatoes $1.88-$1.00/2coupon=$2.76x5=$13.80
Luvs Diaper Box $16.97-$1.00coupn=$15.97
Apple Sauce $1.50=$1.50

Total after coupons:$82.03  13% savings

****When checking out at wal-mart and using coupons make sure to pay attention to the screen, if I hadn't I would have missed out on $8 in coupons.****

Now I know this looks like a lot to pay BUT I looked at it like this, those potatoes have an expiration date of June 2012 and every time my husband gets a tooth pulled he eats those for 2-3 days after so that's a box at least and I now have 10 boxes to last a long time.  The tricycle allows entertainment for my kids and this is well worth the $39.00 even though it about killed me to pay it.  The diapers will last me a whole month though and I won't have to worry about it for awhile.  And in closing I shall show you a picture of my son with his too short to ride this legs on the new toy
